National Bank Pakistan (NBP) was reportedly hacked into, however, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials say they have found no evidence of customer data being hacked during a cyber attack.
NBP’s services across the country were suspended after a cyber attack yesterday. National Bank President Arif Usmani had said in a statement:
“Hackers had attacked last night and had taken over National Bank’s Microsoft. They could not break into the main server of the software and experts are disinfecting all the computer systems of the National Bank.”
Arif Usmani had also mentioned that the information technology (IT) experts from State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), NBP and private companies are restoring the system and they have been working continuously since last night. If found, the system and bank services will continue to be isolated.
The IT expert stated:
“NBP has been subjected to a cyber attack like the FBR.”
Later, Additional Director Cyber Crime Imran Riaz along with his team visited the National Bank Head Office on Monday afternoon during which a meeting was held between the officers of National Bank and FIA Cyber Crime.
Later talking to the media, Imran Riaz said that the server of NBP was attacked during the weekend, due to timely measures taken by the internal team of the National Bank, hackers could not succeed in their intentions Working, reports of data theft are incorrect, from which country did the attack take place? Investigating in this regard, the FIA will support the Forensic Experts Bank of Cyber Crime, no customer data has been leaked, people are still using ATMs.
According to Imran Riaz, financial fraud has increased a lot at the moment, hackers ask the public for information on most calls, the public should not exchange any kind of information.
