A meeting of the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) was conducted under the chairmanship of Federal Minister Asad Omar. NCOC Coordinator Major General Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, Faisal Sultan attended the meeting. Provincial Health Ministers and Chief Secretaries participated through video link.
The meeting focused on the epidemic data chart, national vaccine strategies, and the spread of the disease across the country. Briefings were given on Corona case rates, outbreaks, number of deaths, and new patients. The NCOC discussed the process of vaccination by city. The NCOC agreed to take strict measures regarding the mandatory vaccination system.
It was said in the NCOC meeting that teams should be deployed for vaccination of citizens in public places and a special campaign would be launched from today. Provinces and concerned authorities were directed to adopt a zero-tolerance policy on the mandatory vaccination systems.
Call centers have been set up for those who have not received a second dose of the vaccine. Following which forty call centers have been set up across the country. The number of call centers will be increased to ensure a second dose of vaccine.
The NCOC approved booster doses for 3 categories. Booster doses will be given to health care workers, people over 50, and those with low immunity. The booster dose will be free, it can be given 6 months after the last dose of the vaccine. Provincial representatives stressed the need to focus on the new type of corona and suggested that airports take necessary steps to assess the status of vaccinations and migrants.
At the NCOC meeting, it was stated that the new type of Corona, Omicron, is spreading rapidly in the world. Vaccination is necessary to stay safe from the new strain. The use of masks, social distance, and the process of washing hands should be ensured. The provincial health ministers and chief secretaries were briefed about the expansion of the vaccination campaign. They were also briefed on the steps taken to improve the corona test data and set up call centers. All provinces will immediately launch a vaccination campaign to achieve the targets.
The Buzdar government crossed another milestone during the Corona Vaccination Campaign in the province. During the 12-day special campaign Reach Every Door (RED) in Punjab, the target of vaccination of 13 million people was achieved. A special function was held at the Chief Minister’s Office in honor of the officers and staff who had shown outstanding performance in the vaccination campaign. Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar was the chief guest at the function where he gave shields to the officers and staff.
Chief Minister Usman Buzdar lauded the performance of the Secretaries, Deputy Commissioners, Chief Executive Officers Health, and staff of the concerned departments in achieving the target of Corona Vaccination. Chief Minister Usman Buzdar also announced the launch of the second phase of the Reach Every Door (RED) campaign, today.
Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said that more than 20 million people would be vaccinated against corona during the second phase which would continue till December 31st. Corona has become a challenge for the whole world – now the virus called Omicron has become a threat to the whole world. Vaccines are the only effective way to prevent the virus. The government is working to vaccinate as many people as possible. Punjab, by the grace of Allah Almighty, is at the forefront of vaccination targets in all the provinces. Achieving the target This task is being accomplished through the dedication of the vaccination teams and the efforts of the administrative officers. The Department of Primary and Secondary Healthcare has selected the 12 best performing districts during the Reach Every Door campaign. I appreciate the efforts of the Deputy Commissioners and Chief Executive Officers of Health of Pakpattan, Narowal, Bhakkar, DG Khan, Gujarat, Toba Tek Singh, Lodhran, Kasur, Mandi Bahauddin, Chakwal, Jhelum, and Khanewal. It is hoped that the Deputy Commissioners, Chief Executive Officers of Health, and Vaccination Teams of the remaining districts will perform well in the next phase and achieve a prominent position. Population Welfare, Schools Education, Endowments, I&C, and Information Department also performed brilliantly. I pay tribute to all the departments that have shown remarkable performance in the vaccination campaign. Measures to control dengue are also proving fruitful. You are all participating in charity, it is also your responsibility.
Earlier, Federal Minister of State for Information Farrukh Habib had said that tax collections have increased by 35% in November by approximately, Rs.470 billion in November. Tax collections have increased this year as compared to last year. Despite Corona, economic activity is on the rise.
According to the Netherlands Health Department, a new variant of Corona had appeared in the Netherlands before South Africa. Omicron virus was found in two test samples taken on November 19 and 23. It is not yet clear if these people have gone to South Africa.
Earlier, it was decided to tighten measures at US airports to deal with Omicron. Surveillance will be stepped up at 4 major US international airports. The United States has said that in view of the growing number of cases of Omicron among travelers, those traveling to the United States must undergo a Corona test a day before boarding. US President Joe Biden will announce a new policy on Corona tomorrow.
