NEPRA announces reduction in unit price of electricity
Lahore, 7th June: The government approves a reduction of 44 paise per unit in monthly fuel charge adjustment in the unit price of electricity.
National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) approves a reduction of 44 paise per unit in monthly fuel charge adjustment in the unit price of electricity.
NEPRA has issued a notification to the CPPA to reduce 84 paise per unit. According to the details, NEPRA’s notification said that the decision would be applicable only to the bills for the month of June, and not to the users that consume 300 units, lifeline and agricultural consumers, besides, the fuel price adjustment would be applicable.
Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen has said that electricity prices will not be increased in the future.
Tax evaders will be traced with modern technology and electricity bills, Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen said while addressing the budget webinar.
He said that price control would be considered for restoration of the magistrate system, steps would be taken for agriculture in the next budget.
He said that with the improvement in the economy, the revenue has also increased. he informed that more than 40 industries related to the construction sector have been revived.
The government has said that to improve the economy, it is necessary to increase exports. That is why a record revenue of over Rs 4,000 billion has been collected this year.
The Prime Minister has increased electricity rates in the commercial sector only.
