Nepra jacks up power tarrif once again

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) Wednesday approved Rs4.34 per unit increase in the electricity tariff under the head of monthly adjustment of July.

NEPRA said that the Authority had to pay over Rs7 billion extra due to the violation of merit order.

Also, the shortage of LNG put an additional burden of over Rs6 billion on the NEPRA which they ultimately had to pass on to the consumers.

The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had requested for Rs4.69 per unit increase in the power tariff.
