Netanyahu not against all two-state solutions for Palestine: President Biden
On Friday, US President Joe Biden said that he spoke with Israel’s Prime Minister (PM) Benjamin Netanyahu about possible solutions to creating an independent Palestinian state.
According to an Al Arabiya report, President Biden said he suggested a path that could involve a ‘non-militarized government’. The White House has confirmed the discussion was focused on the continued Israeli aggression in Gaza, Palestine.

John Kirby, spokesperson for the White House informed reporters, that President Biden has been attempting to schedule the call with the Israeli PM “for quite a bit of time” but denied it had any connection to Netanyahu’s comments on Thursday concerning the statehood of Palestine.
According to reports, President Biden said that a two-state solution is “not” possible while Netanyahu is still in office. Speaking to reporters after a meeting with mayors across the US, however, Biden commented that the Israeli PM is not opposed to all two-state solutions.
The White House confirmed, that the two also discussed matters related to hostages as Israel has shifted focus to “targeted” operations in Gaza, allowing access to more humanitarian aid.

On the other hand, President Biden has reportedly been asserting pressure on Israel to reduce the killing of Palestinians despite maintaining strong support for Israel. In a statement issued by the White House, it is said: “The president also discussed his vision for a more durable peace and security for Israel fully integrated within the region and a two-state solution with Israel’s security guaranteed”.
Experts believe that Netanyahu is not in favor of such a move to ensure long-term peace. In a press conference, the Israeli PM said he was against Washington’s notion of Palestinian statehood. Netanyahu said: “Israel must have security control over the entire territory west of the Jordan River. That’s a necessary condition”.

Addressing Mexico and Chile’s request for the ICC (International Criminal Court) to investigate potential Israeli war crimes, Kirby said that there are no “indications that there’s deliberate … efforts to commit war crimes” by the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces).
President Biden’s call has coincided with Red Crescent Officials’ accusations of an attack by the Israeli armed forces on a hospital in Khan Younis. It is pertinent to note that Israel launched a new attack to capture the city, which it claims is now serving as the primary base for Hamas. In the last 24 hours alone, 142 Palestinians have been killed and 278 more injured raising the death toll to 24,762 confirmed the Palestinian health ministry.
