New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio says residents who get vaccine booster to get $100
Dec 22, 2021: New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said Tuesday that residents who receive the Covid 19 vaccine booster by the end of the year will receive $100 from the city.
The weekend saw an increase in Covid 19 cases in New York City and the United States, boosting expectations for a normal holiday season, reviving restrictions and expanding the country’s testing infrastructure ahead of holiday trips and gatherings. The fast-spreading omicron variant of coronavirus has overwhelmed the United States with lightning speed, and it killed a non-vaccinated man in Texas on Monday, officials said.
In the US, the alarming spike in Covid-19 cases is alarming public health officials, who fear an explosion of infections after the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
The Omicron variant now accounts for 73% of US coronavirus infections based on sequencing data for the week ended on Saturday, the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention said on Monday.
