Christchurch: The leaders of ICC World Test Championship (WTC), India, suffered a seven-wicket loss against New Zealand in the second Test at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Monday.
In the second match of the ICC WTC played at Christchurch, India scored 242 runs in the first innings. In reply, New Zealand were dismissed for 235 in their first innings, trailing 7 runs in the first innings.
The No. 1 Test side of the world were all-out on 124 in their second innings, giving the hosts 132 to chase, which the Kiwis pursued successfully to complete a 2-0 whitewash.
Opening pair of Tom Latham and Tom Blundell added 103 runs for the opening wicket. However, Indian bowlers did manage to pick three quick wickets, but it wasn’t enough as the target wasn’t big to defend.
New Zealand easily reached the target of 132 for three with the loss of three wickets. Earlier, in the first test against India, the Black Caps defeated India by 10 wickets.

New Zealand whitewashed India in the Test series and secured second position in the ICC rankings and the Kiwis came in third place after two-tier development in the ICC World Test Championship.
After this victory in Christchurch, New Zealand managed to preserve their fine test record at home, being undefeated in 13 tests on Kiwi soil dating back to Summer 2016-17.
