In a recent shooting rampage in the US, nine people have been shot dead in Dayton, in the Oregon District. According to police reports, the shooting, which resulted in nine casualties and multiple injuries, began around 1 a.m, however the policemen in the vicinity timely responded to contain the situation and killed the attacker. Sixteen victims of the shooting, which is being referred to as a “mass casualty incident, are hospitalized at Miami Valley Hospital with injuries.
Investigations are in progress for the identification of the suspect in order to find out the underlying motivation behind his horrific act. Dayton Police in a tweet confirmed that the FBI is onboard for assistance in the investigation process. While an assistance center for the victim families is being opened at the Dayton Convention Center.
It must be noted that it is the second incident of mass shooting in the US within 24 hours. A few hours before it happened in Dayton, Ohio, a young man gunned down twenty people in another massacre that took place at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas. More than two dozen people were injured in the Texas incident.
