No heavy damages reported post cyclonic storm KYARR

ISLAMABAD, Oct 28 (APP): National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Monday informed that no heavy damages have been reported yet in coastal areas of Sindh where post cyclonic storm Kyarr occurred in the Arabian Sea.

NDMA spokesperson in a statement said the cyclonic storm in the Arabian Sea is moving northwest over the past 12 hours.

However, due to the storm and high waves, some water has entered the village of Raheri, Chashma Ghot and Lath Basti, he added.

“No heavy damage reports have been received so far. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), due to strong tropical winds during the next 24 hours sandstorms and rise in sea waves is expected to increase,” he said.

Keeping in view the potential risk due to the cyclonic storm Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Sindh has set up 300 tents in Malir, he informed.

Moreover, instructions have been issued to the local population and fishermen to stay in safe places and avoid venturing into deep sea water.

Chairman NDMA Lt Gen Muhammad Afzal has assured all available resources to PDMA Sindh.
