Lasting peace in South Asia is impossible without a just resolution of the lingering Kashmir dispute.
For decades, Kashmiris have awaited the fulfillment of their right to self-determination and India’s denial of Kashmiris’ basic right to self-determination is a blatant violation of the UN Charter.
India has obstructed a fair solution to Kashmir dispute for over seven decades but it cannot crush Kashmiris’ just struggle through military might and the roadmap laid out in the United Nations January 5, 1949 resolution must guide the settlement of Kashmir dispute.
Kashmiris have the right to decide their future in line with their wishes & aspirations and India must realize that repression in IIOJK is destined to fail.
The UN must step forward and ensure implementation of its resolutions on Kashmir and the global community should also carry a moral duty to resolve the Kashmir issue for durable peace in the South Asian region.
