Lahore, 25th June: Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin told the IMF that no more tax burden will be imposed on the people of Pakistan.

Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin is concluding the budget debate in the National Assembly session chaired by Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri, on Friday.

During the session, Finance Minister said that 1.5 million people have been identified through electricity bills who are not paying taxes. Hence, notices will be issued to those people who do not pay taxes through third parties. We have the profile data of one and a half crore tax evaders.

He said that millions of tax evaders have been identified through electricity bills from whom non-taxpayers will collect taxes through a third party.

Shaukat Tarin further said that when the PTI government came, the biggest problem was the current account deficit. Therefore, there was no other option but to go to the IMF. The Prime Minister took tough and bold decisions regarding the economy.

There was a challenge, but despite the steps taken to improve the economy, growth around the world was affected by a coronavirus pandemic. The government had plans for interest-free loans, health cards, employment training and skills programs.

He addressed the session and informed that we will complete the revenue target this year, withdraw the practice of medical bills of government employees, withdraw the tax on dairy products, withdraw the tax on special mobiles for the blind, waive the tax on vehicles up to 1000 CC.

He further said that there will be no tax on flour and related items, tax on poultry feed has been reduced from 17 to 10 percent, tax on gold and silver is being reduced from 17 to 7 and 3 percent.

Tarin shared that speaking over your mobile for more than five minutes will be taxed at 75 paisas, but there will be no tax on an SMS.

Shaukat Tarin further said that we have to pay special attention to agriculture, agricultural loans will be given, taxes on agricultural machinery will be reduced. More than Rs 25 billion is being given to the agriculture sector.

Shaukat Tarin further said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that no tax will be imposed on the people and he has also told the IMF that no more tax burden will be imposed on Pakistanis.
