On July 13, 1931, there was a trial for treason against Abdul Qadir, a Kashmiri youth imprisoned in Srinagar Central Jail. Thousands of Kashmiri people gathered outside the jail on this occasion. During Zuhr prayers, a Kashmiri youth shouted Azan and was shot dead by a Dogra soldier.

From there, the butterflies of Tawheed passed the call to prayer and the Dogra soldiers also continued firing. One by one, a young man drank the cup of martyrdom but the call to prayer kept resounding and thus 22 Kashmiris completed the call to prayer with their lives.
