No political party apart from Khan challenged NAB amendments: Supreme Court

During the hearing on Imran Khan’s application regarding NAB amendments in the Supreme Court, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah has remarked that no other political party or citizen has challenged the NAB amendments except Imran Khan. 

A 3-member special bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice Umer Atta Bandial, heard the petition of Imran Khan regarding the NAB amendments.

Khawaja Haris, Imran Khan’s lawyer, said that in Islam there is a system of accountability for government officials, and that the ruler is responsible for any injustices in the country.

Khawaja Haris said that if the basis of the application against the amendments is not solid, then the court should dismiss it.

Imran Khan’s lawyer further said that those who ensure the process of accountability cannot get immunity from it.

Later, the Supreme Court adjourned further hearing of the case related to NAB amendments till December 7.
