Noor Mukadam murder case: Public demands justice
In the wake of the horrific beheading of Noor Mukadam by Zahir Jaffer, the son of a powerful businessman, the Pakistani public has been demanding justice, with #JusticeforNoor trending on social media. The daughter of Shaukat Mukadam, Pakistan’s former ambassador to South Korea, 27-year-old Noor Mukadam was found brutally murdered in the sector F-7/4 area of Islamabad. Reports indicate that the accused, Zahir Jaffer, had shot her dead before beheading her. As reported by Baaghi TV, a First Information Report (FIR) had been registered against Jaffer for the murder of Mukadam under Section 302. What has angered so many are reports that his family is trying to manipulate the justice system by portraying a monstrous human being as mentally unstable. I am posting below a letter I wrote as, a 1983 graduate of Kinnaird College because I felt compelled to raise my voice—as a woman and a mother.
