Yesterday, the Islamabad High Court announced it will indict 12 persons, including prime suspect and main accused Zahir Jaffer, on October 6 for the murder of Noor Muqadam.

Zahir Jaffar and six other suspects, including Tahir Zahoor, owner of Therapy Works, were brought to court today to attend a hearing on bail petitions filed by Zafar Jaffer’s parents, Zakir Jaffer and Ismat Adamji.

Advocate Shah Khawar, father of the deceased and counsel for plaintiff Shaukat Muqadam, told the court that the murder case should be heard in a special court as per the provisions of the Presidential Ordinance. In reply, Justice Amir Farooq said that the ordinance was over. “It looks like you want to delay the trial,” he said.

In response, Khawar said it was not the purpose of his request.

To which the judge said that if you feel that the trial court does not have the power to hear the case, then file a petition in the relevant court. Khawar told the judge that Zahir Jaffar was constantly talking to his parents on the day of Noor Muqadam’s murder.

The court granted the lawyers respite after hearing their plea and asked for more time to prepare the case.
