North Korea seals border, Impose emergency in country after first case of coronavirus reported
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has declared a state of emergency and a lockdown in the border area after an illegal immigrant from South Korea contracted the coronavirus.
Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) has also reported that Kim Jong-Un declared a state of emergency in the Kaesong area during Politburo meeting yesterday.
It was not revealed whether the suspect had been tested but said an analysis of the man’s blood and respiratory organs showed signs of coronavirus.
The man will be quarantined and it will be determined if he has met with anyone in North Korea.
Kim’s government has boasted throughout the pandemic that North Korea is coronavirus-free – one of the only countries in the world to record zero cases.
It would be the first case officially acknowledged by North Korean authorities – despite ongoing rumours that coronavirus is rife within the regime’s borders.
North Korea’s leader declared a state of emergency and imposed a lockdown on the border city of Kaesong.
