Olivia Rodrigo announces release date for New Album ‘Guts’
American singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo has announced the release date for her anticipated album Guts. According to the singer, her new album will drop on September 8, this year.
Announcing Guts as the name of her upcoming album, Rodrigo surprised fans when she confirmed it will be releasing soon. Taking to Twitter, on 26 June, Rodrigo wrote: “My sophomore album GUTS comes out September 8th”. The singer added: “I am so proud of this record and I can’t wait to share it with you all!”

Her previous album titled Sour came out in 2021. Fans have been speculating if the album is inspired by her musical contemporary Taylor Swift based on hints Rodrigo has dropped in the past.
Talking to Billboard in 2022, Rodrigo addressed expectations in the wake of Sour while discussing that she was “exploring” ideas and trying not to take on too much pressure. At the time, the HSMTMTS alum said: “It’s definitely a different experience writing a second album after having a debut that was so well received”.
She elaborated, “Writing songs will hopefully always be an outlet for me to process my feelings before anything else”.

Opening up about Guts, the singer said it is about “growing pains” and trying to figure out who she is at this point in her life. Reflecting on her rise to stardom with a Disney Channel original series, Rordigo said it was like growing up ten years in a period of two years as it was “such an intense period”. She elaborated: “I think that’s all just a natural part of growth, and hopefully the album reflects that”.
On the other hand, she previously announced her single “Vampire”, the first from the upcoming album, would be released on 30 June. She further teased them with promo art for it. Fans have speculated the song to be a piano-centric ballad similar to “Drivers License”.
The song is reportedly an ode to Rodrigo’s obsession with Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight.
In a note to her fans, the singer wrote: “I cannot express how excited I am to embark on this new chapter of my life with you guys.”
