India: A 73-old-man who had tested positive for the new Omicron variant of coronavirus has succumbed to his infection in Rajasthan’s Udaipur on Friday.

The septuagenarian was also suffering from hypertension and diabetes, said reports. The man had tested negative for COVID-19 on December 21. However, 4 days later on December 25, he contracted the new strain of the virus. The hospital authorities have suspected that the man might died due to the effect of post-COVID pneumonia.

“A 73-year-old man who was tested positive for Covid’s Omicron strain on Dec 15, died today. Later, he was tested negative two times, so this will not be called a COVID death but a post-Covid death”, said Dr Dinesh Kharadi, Chief Medical and Health Officer, Udaipur.
