In the past five days, more than one thousand Afghans have returned to the country through the Spin Boldak crossing, including 400 prisoners.

Migrants say that mistreatment of migrants in Pakistan continues.

Zabihullah, 22, after spending five days in a Pakistani prison, says the arrest, imprisonment, and torture of Afghans in Pakistani jails still continues.

He told TOLOnews: “There was only rice, nothing else. They took us to prison and did not even give us water. They also tortured us.”

Several other recently returned migrants from Pakistan also complained about the mistreatment by that country’s security forces toward Afghans.

Noor Mohammad, who was deported from Pakistan, said: “They were very cruel to us. They took everything we had. We were imprisoned for twenty days and treated very unjustly.”

Shafiullah, another deportee from Pakistan, said: “In Quetta and Qala-e- Saifullah, there was harassment. We moved to another place, thinking they would come there too, so we decided it was better to return to our country.”

Officials at the border migration office in Spin Boldak, Kandahar, say that since August 1, 2025, 950 migrants and 400 prisoners have returned to the country.

Abdul Latif Hakimi, head of the migrant registration committee in Spin Boldak district, said: “From August 1 to 5, 180 families, totaling 950 people, and 400 prisoners have returned to the country.”

According to the officials, in addition to humanitarian and cash assistance, emergency aid is also being provided to returnees for resettlement in their original homes.
