Pakistan abolishes sales tax on fruit imports from Afghanistan

Pakistan has abolished sales tax on fruit imports from Afghanistan to aid Afghan traders and farmers. The instructions for this action were delivered by Prime Minister Imran Khan and a tweet was made by Mohammad Sadiq in this regard.

Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan Muhammad Sadiq Khan tweeted a notification to abolish sales tax and said that Pakistan would not take any taxes on fruits except apples coming from Afghanistan.

He said that the decision not to levy taxes was a manifestation of Pakistan’s positive foreign policy towards Afghanistan.

Furthermore, the chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) said that this abolishing of sales tax came on the instructions of the Prime Minister.

This was also confirmed by Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid on Twitter.

Moreover, to save the country’s dollar reserves, Pakistan would be conducting its cross-border trade in Pakistani rupees.

It is to be noted that Pakistan has been actively helping its Afghan brothers currently in disarray due to political turbulence caused by recent events by offering frequent aid. Through multiple collaborative efforts with international agencies, Pakistan has also delivered many relief goods to Afghanistan and will continue to help the nation.
