Pakistan Army airlifts 22 students from snow-hit Astore village: ISPR
ISLAMABAD, Jan 20 (APP): Pakistan Army rescue teams Monday evacuated 22 students of Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), who were stranded in Rattu village of Astore district, after heavy snowfall there. β(As many as) 22 students from LUMS rescued by Pak Army from snow hit Rattu to Rawalpindi,β according to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR). The students had gone for the skiing in Astore where they remained stuck up for the last five days due to heavy snow and landslides. The LUMS administration had approached the army for help, following which Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa had issued directives for their immediate rescue and airlift from the town. βAll students, including 13 boys and nine girls, have reached Rawalpindi and are on way to their homes,β it added.
