Pakistan Army Urban Search and Rescue leaves for Quetta

Oct 7, 2021: Pakistan Army’s Urban Search and Rescue Team has left Rawalpindi for Quetta.

After a powerful earthquake that shook the area around Harnai, Balochistan, Pakistan Army’s Urban Search and Rescue Team has left Rawalpindi for Quetta to assist with rescue and recovery operations.

According to DG ISPR, the rescue team will be flown from Quetta by Army Aviation Helicopter. The Urban Rescue and Search Team will take part in relief activities.

The Pakistan Army’s Public Relations Department (ISPR) says that the Pakistan Army has reached the quake-hit areas of Harnai in Balochistan where it has started relief activities. According to ISPR, Army doctors, paramedical staff provided medical facilities and the city administration also provided assistance for the medical facilities. 9 injured were airlifted to Quetta by Army helicopters.

President Arif Alvi has expressed his sorrow over the loss of precious lives and property due to the earthquake in Balochistan. He said he prays for speedy recovery of the injured in the earthquake and that he hopes the provincial government and NDMA will ensure immediate assistance to the victims.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed regret over the loss of life and property due to the earthquake in Balochistan. The Prime Minister’s Office has received the initial report of the damage and the current situation. Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed to provide relief to all concerned federal agencies.

The Prime Minister also directed to provide the best medical aid to the injured. Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the federal government would provide all possible assistance in difficult times. He has directed immediate relief to the earthquake victims of Harnai, and has expressed condolences to the families of the victims of the earthquake.

Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif has expressed sorrow over the loss of lives due to the earthquake in Balochistan and said that he is saddened by the loss of precious human lives. PPP chairman Bilawal Zardari said that the federal government should take concrete steps to save the lives of the injured and the federal and Balochistan governments should pay compensation to the heirs of the deceased. Bilawal Zardari directed PPP Balochistan leadership to help earthquake victims.

The Balochistan government will do everything possible to help those displaced by the quake, Railway Minister Azam Khan Swati said. He said that the bereaved families share the grief of the bereaved in times of need and facilities should be provided to the injured and relief should be provided in the affected areas.

Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjarani expressed deep sorrow and regret over the loss of life and property caused by the earthquake in different cities of Balochistan. Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjarani prayed for the forgiveness of those killed in the quake and speedy recovery of the injured.

He said that the victims are equal partners in this hour of grief. Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjarani also directed the concerned agencies to expedite the relief operations and provide timely and best medical facilities to the injured.

Deputy Chairman Senate, Senator Mirza Muhammad Afridi, Leader of the House in the Senate, Senator Dr. Shehzad Waseem, Leader of the Opposition, Senator Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani also expressed their heartfelt sorrow and grief over the loss of life and property caused by the earthquake in different cities of Balochistan. He prayed for speedy recovery of the injured in the quake and said that they share the grief of the bereaved families.

Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser and Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri have expressed deep sorrow and grief over the loss of life and property due to the earthquake in Balochistan. The Speaker and Deputy Speaker have expressed sympathy to the affected families. He said that the bereaved families should share the grief in the hour of need and ensure the best medical facilities for the injured and immediate relief in the affected areas.

On the other hand, Chief Minister’s Cell has been set up for emergency assistants in Balochistan earthquake affected areas. Chief Secretary’s Office, PDMA and Command and Control Center are supervising Chief Minister’s Cell.

Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid expressed sorrow over the loss of life in the Balochistan earthquake and said that relief work is underway in the quake affected areas, Civil Armed Forces are helping the victims.

Relief activities are underway in the quake-hit areas of Balochistan. 10 injured from Harnai were airlifted to Quetta by helicopter. The condition of the injured was critical. The injured included children, women and the elderly. All educational institutions will be closed today due to the earthquake in Harnai.

A medical emergency has been declared in the Civil Hospital Quetta due to the earthquake in Harnai. Doctors and staff were called to the hospital on an emergency basis.

It is to be noted that at least 20 people have been killed and more than 300 injured due to last night’s severe earthquake in different parts of Balochistan including Quetta, Sibi and Harnai.

More than 70 houses have also been damaged in Harnai and Shahrag. The epicenter was reported at 5.9 magnitude, with a depth of 15 km.
