Pakistan Confirms Participation in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 Following Government Approval

*Islamabad, Pakistan* – The Government of Pakistan has officially given the green signal for the country’s participation in the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, slated to be held in India. In a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan reiterated its stance of keeping sports separate from politics, thereby deciding to send its Cricket Team to India for the prestigious tournament.

Despite the existing challenges in bilateral relations with India, Pakistan expressed its commitment to fulfilling its international sports obligations, emphasizing the importance of promoting a constructive and responsible approach. The decision comes in the wake of India’s refusal to send its Cricket Team to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, highlighting Pakistan’s contrasting approach towards fostering sportsmanship.

While confirming their participation, the Pakistani authorities also conveyed their deep concerns over the security of their Cricket Team during their visit to India. These concerns are being communicated to both the International Cricket Council and the Indian authorities, with an expectation that the full safety and security of the team will be ensured throughout their stay in India.

Pakistan’s World Cup campaign is set to commence on October 6, with their first match against the Netherlands scheduled to take place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. As cricket enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the tournament, the spotlight remains on ensuring a safe and successful event for all participating teams.
