ISLAMABAD, Nov 27 (APP):Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser Wednesday said that Pakistan desired to further strengthen parliamentary and commercial relations with Romania.
“We need for close contacts between the Parliaments and parliamentarians of both the countries could play an important role in strengthening relations”, he expressed these views while talking to Romanian Ambassador Nicolae Goia, who called on him.
He said that Pakistan’s Parliament is committed to promote parliamentary relations with Romania and Pak-Romania Parliamentary Friendship Group has been constituted in the National Assembly of Pakistan, which is playing an active role in strengthening the relations between the parliaments.
Pakistan’s parliament is consist of progressive political forces and has a similar stand on issues of national importance, he said.
While acknowledging eulogizing the Romanian support in getting GSP Plus status in European Union Asad Qaiser said that Romania is an important among the EU countries and could play an important role to access Pakistani products to European markets.
He said that Pakistan has ample investment opportunities in energy, industry, textile, agriculture, infrastructure and tourism sectors and Romanian investors could take benefits from these opportunities. While denouncing the incident of desecration of Holy Quran in Norway, he termed it heartbreaking and woeful.
He said that this incident has badly hurt the feelings of Muslims around the world. He said such incidents cause hatred and bitterness among believers of different faiths.
He emphasized the need to adopt a comprehensive global action plan to prevent incidents of religious hatred. Expressing his views on CPEC, he said, that the CPEC project is of paramount importance and it will open new avenues of development and prosperity throughout the region.
Romanian Ambassador Nicolae Goia said that Romania values its long term bilateral relations with Pakistan. He said that Pakistan is an important country in the region and his government wanted to expand its relations with Pakistan.
He expressed satisfaction over the bilateral relations and said that relations between the two countries were strengthening over passage of time.
He said that Pakistan and Romania has enormous potential to promote economic and socio-economic cooperation and sustainable partnership between the two countries was essential for the region’s stability and to meet global challenges.
He praised Pakistan’s efforts in the fight against terrorism. He said that Pakistan has huge potential in economic sector and CPEC project is one of the most important elements of attraction for the business community of world over.
