The region faces challenges such as terrorism, climate change, and poverty. General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that India is deeply concerned about the supersonic missile crash in Pakistan. One nuclear country has dropped a missile on another nuclear country – India should explain to the world and Pakistan whether its weapons are safe? The missile could have caused any loss such as loss of life, or even a passenger plane could have been hit. COAS Bajwa added, “Pakistan has demanded a comprehensive investigation into the incident of India’s missile crash”.
The Chief of Army Staff said that the situation on the LOC (Line of Control) is satisfactory and peaceful at present, no major dispute has taken place in the last year. “We believe in diplomacy and dialogue to resolve the Kashmir issue, Pakistan wants water disputes with India to also be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy”.
Talking about the situation in Afghanistan, the Army Chief said that Pakistan is located in an important economic region. While security and stability in the region are part of our policy, sanctions on Afghanistan add to the difficulties there. Pakistan has joined hands with the international community to help Afghanistan, but more needs to be done to help the Afghan people. Instead of imposing sanctions, the positive attitude of Afghans should be taken into account, he added.

In addition, the COAS said that despite Russia’s legitimate security concerns, aggression against the small country [Ukraine] cannot be ignored. Pakistan is concerned about the Russia-Ukraine conflict. “Russia’s attack on Ukraine is unfortunate, this war must end and the conflict must not get out of hand. The case of Ukraine is a great tragedy, thousands of Ukrainians have been killed, millions have become refugees, and half the country has been destroyed”, added General Bajwa.
General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that the CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor) agreement with China is very important. We want better relations with the United States (US) as the US is Pakistan’s largest export market. We have a long history of excellent relations with them. We want to enhance our good relations with both China and the United States in such a way that relations are not affected for one reason or another, he added.
“Pakistan does not believe in any camp politics, relations with one country should not spoil relations with other countries”, COAS, General Qamar Javed Bajwa. We also have good relations with the European Union and Japan. Pakistan believes in working together.
