Sept 28, 2021: Former Pakistan batting great and former chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq underwent angioplasty surgery in Lahore on Monday evening after suffering a heart attack, according to his manager.

The manager revealed that a successful angioplasty had been performed at a private hospital, adding that his condition was stable but that doctors were monitoring him. The manager said after a successful surgery stent has been successfully implanted in the heart.

According to a report on a cricket-based website, former Pakistan star batsman, Inzamam-ul-Haq had been complaining of chest pain for the past three days. After tests, it was revealed that he had a heart attack and needed immediate surgery.

Inzamam-ul-Haq was first seen on the world stage during Pakistan’s 1992 World Cup winning run. He later became Pakistan’s leading run-scorer in ODIs with 11,701 runs in 375 matches, and the third highest run-scorer in Tests with eight runs in 119 matches under his belt. He scored 8829 runs in those matches.

Inzamam-ul-Haq is also one of the most successful captains in Pakistan. He said goodbye to international cricket in 2007 and started serving cricket in various capacities.

One of these positions was batting consultant with the national squad and then as the chief selector of the national squad from 2016 to 2019. He was also appointed head coach of the Afghanistan cricket team a few years ago.
