Pakistan Observes National Minority Day to Honor Minorities
Today, on 11th August, National Minority Day is being observed by the populace, in recognition and honor of the minorities who sacrificed for the nation and contributed to its progression.
In a message released by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, on his official website, he has stated that on this day he wished to reiterate the government’s unflinching resolve to make Pakistan a safe haven for everyone, including minorities, as was Quaid-e-Azam’s message.
Quaid, in his speech upon the formation of Pakistan, said, “You are free; you are free to go to your temples, you are free to go to your mosques or to any other place of worship in this state of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion or caste or creed that has nothing to do with the business of the state.”
Before one’s religion, one has to realize that they are human, and minorities are just as much full-blooded Pakistani as a majority member, and always shall Pakistanis stand together with one another in unity, no matter the race, caste, religion, or belief system.
Various events, seminars, and ceremonies to celebrate this day are being organized by minority leaders.
This day recognized the significant contributions in different facets of society they have made including health, education, defense, and social welfare.
The white on Pakistan’s flag, a color of purity, was painted for them, and this day serves to emphasize that they are as much part of the nation as we are.
