Aug 25, 2021: Pakistan Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid on Wednesday said that Pakistan has paid a heavy price for its alliance with the United States in the war on terror.
The minister expressed these views while talking to reporters in Islamabad. Rashid added that Pakistan wants peace in Afghanistan because it is important for the prosperity of the entire region. He said there was no burden of refugees on Pakistan after the Taliban took over, adding that all trade routes with Afghanistan were operational.
Rashid said business activity has increased by 65%. The interior minister added that Pakistan was not interfering in Afghanistan’s internal affairs.
According to Rashid, India suffered defeat and was saddened by its loss in Afghanistan. He said that the Indian government was facilitating terrorist activities in Pakistan. “We will not allow the TTP to carry out terrorism in Pakistan,” he said.
The Home Minister also spoke about the security of Chinese citizens in Pakistan. He said that security would be provided by the government to Chinese nationals working on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.
Rashid said the government would take additional steps to ensure security in Islamabad, adding that law enforcement agencies were working around the clock in the Interior Ministry.
The minister said he would tell the chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to start construction work on Margalla Road.
In a message to the PDM, Rashid said, “Domestic politics will no longer run here because the region is becoming an important part of global politics.” Maulana Fazlur Rehman, head of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F), was a shrewd politician, he said, adding that the rest of the PDM was made up of “under-19” politicians.
He said the PDM was not a threat to the government. He said that he was united in Kashmir elections, but still could not defeat the government.
