The total number was deaths during the pandemic stands at 29,420. The graph shows a steady increase in hospital admissions, with 1,618 patients in intensive care, but for the fourth day in a row the positive rate remained below 10%.

During the last 24 hours, 64,121 tests were carried out across the country, taking the total number of tests to 25,258,723. So far, 1,448,663 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Pakistan with 101,858 active cases.

The number of recovered patients stands at 4,566 during the last 24 hours, taking the total number to 1,317,385.

Punjab remains the worst-hit province with 13,219 deaths followed by Sindh with 7,869 deaths, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) with 6,031 deaths, Islamabad Capital Territory with 983 deaths, Azad Jammu and Kashmir with 761 deaths, Balochistan with 368 deaths, and Gilgit-Baltistan with 189 deaths.

Stressing the importance of vaccinations and booster shots earlier this week, Dr Faisal Sultan, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health said, “Scientific data has shown that people need an additional dose of the vaccine despite being fully vaccinated for protection against COVID-19 if six months and over have passed.”

Sultan urged people to get a booster shot if they haven’t already, as Pakistan continues its battle against the Omicron-driven fifth COVID-19 wave.
