Pakistan reports 1,742 coronavirus cases, 39 deaths in 24 hours

Sept 30 2021: Pakistan has reported 39 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel corona virus as the number of positive cases has surged to 1,245,127. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 27,729 on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Pakistan reported less than 2,000 coronavirus cases in a single day for the fourth consecutive day on Wednesday morning.

A day earlier, the data from the NCOC showed that the daily COVID-19 case count went below 1,500 for the first time in more than two months after the country reported 1,400 fresh cases Tuesday morning. The country last reported less than 1,500 cases on July 23 at 1,425 cases.

According to the latest figures issued by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 1,742 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Pakistan has conducted 52,635 tests in the past 24 hours out of which 1,742 persons were tested positive for the disease. The COVID Positivity Ratio was recorded at 3.30 percent.

According to the data from National Command & Operation Centre (NCOC), during last 24 hours most deaths occurred in Punjab followed by KP. Out of the total of 39 deaths that occurred from the corona virus during last 24 hours, 11 patients died while on ventilators. Moreover, 32 of those deaths were in hospitals and 7 otherwise.

Further breakdown of the deaths according to provinces shows Sindh: total 7382 (3 died in hospital on 29 Sep), Punjab: total 12617 (17 died in hospital and 5 died out of hospital on 29 Sep), KP: total 5537 (10 died in hospital and 2 died out of hospital on 29 Sep) and in ICT: total 923 (1 died in hospital on 29 Sep)

On September 29, a total of 1742 people tested positive for the corona virus across the country.

In addition to the mortality figures, the NCOC data further shows the equipment occupation at hospitals, with the total number of vents occupied in; Multan at 85%, Bahawalpur at 45%, Sargodha at 43%, and Lahore at 43%.

The occupation of Oxygen beds stands thus; Sargodha – 45%, Peshawar – 45%, Bannu – 44% and, Multan – 44%

Total Active corona virus cases in Pakistan are 47832 as of 30 Sep with a total of 52635 tests being conducted on 29 Sep. The province wise distribution stands thus; Sindh: 15709, Punjab: 17704, KP: 12401, ICT: 4038, Balochistan: 1524, GB: 513, and AJK: 746

1,169,566 People recovered so far across Pakistan making it a significant count. Whereas 3953 patients were admitted to hospitals across the country.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has achieved another milestone of administering more than 80 million Corona virus vaccine doses. According to official statistics as of Sept 29, over 50 million people have received the first dose of corona virus vaccine.

The number of fully vaccinated individuals has surpassed 20.7 million mark.

NCOC chief Asad Umar announced on Wednesday that cities with a slow pace of vaccination as well as unvaccinated individuals will be imposed with higher restrictions.

“We have set the target of vaccinating at least 70 million people in the country by December 01, 2021 and we are moving fast to achieving the target,” said Umar later in a press conference along with PM’s aide on Health Dr Faisal Sultan in Islamabad. Dr Faisal said before vaccine availability main focus was on restrictions, while “now we are gradually shifting our strategic focus towards vaccination”.

Also, earlier this week, Umar said children are super-spreaders of the virus that’s why it had been decided to open vaccination for children above 12 years of age.
