Pakistan Resolution Day and the idea of Liberty

The Quaid of this Islamic Republic quoted: “We are a nation with our own distinctive culture and civilization, language and literature, art and architecture, name and nomenclature, sense of values and proportion, in short, in short, we have our own distinctive outlook on life and of life, by all canons of international law we are a nation.”

We all grew up hearing whispers of events from the past. The end of the British Raj in India, saw the subcontinent dissected into two – India and Pakistan. The 1940s tower over every decade of the 20th century as the most full of sorrow, patriotism, and ultimately hope and beginning of a new era.

‘The day of destiny’, that is Pakistan resolution day and the idea of liberty.

“O dear Patriots”, achieving Pakistan was never easy. When reading or hearing about the partition, I get overwhelmed by the intensity of violence. At the hands of brutality, every person was sold. Yes, Yes! Achieving a nation, where we, we Muslims could breathe fearlessly, could practice our religion, could live with our families, our loved ones was never easy… I repeat: Not Easy At All.

On 23rd March 1940, Muslims truly gathered at a single platform and under Quaid’s unwavering leadership, our forefathers saw the historical moments of the creation of Pakistan.

This resolution established an independent state- Pakistan, united Muslims and gave them a sense of identity. Moreover, this resolution came up with the protection of the rights of minorities. Pakistan not only means freedom and independence but the Muslim Ideology which has to be preserved.

The Father of the Nation said: “Democracy is in the blood of the Muslims, who look upon complete equality of mankind, and believe in fraternity, equality and liberty. Respected Audience Our Nation appears with this idea of liberty that is the equal rights given to all citizens of this state to act and express according to their will.

So, if you remember the words of our leader, then read close: “You are free, you are free to practice your religion in this state of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion or caste or creed that has nothing to do with business of the state.”

The concept of liberty can quite easily be explained by an incident which took place right after – Yaum-e-Takbeer, when a young Palestinian boy, held a stone in his hand, stood in front of the Israeli army and yelled with some heart-rending words, “Don’t look at the stone in my hand, look at the bomb in Pakistan, we are coming after you.” These words sum up the idea and the importance of liberty which we are enjoying in our beloved homeland.

The land we belong to, the land we will die for, the land that defines our identity. This is our country. So it is our responsibility to endeavor for Pakistan’s prosperity and development. People! The time has come when all of us have to vow with ourselves that – we will live with dignity and we will die with honor!
