Pakistan to observe Kashmir Black Day on October 27

Oct 25, 2021: Pakistan will observe October 27 as a black day nationally and internationally to show solidarity with the people of India’s illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), an official said on Sunday.

They have been facing illegal occupation and serious human rights violations for years. Every year, October 27 is celebrated all over the world as Kashmir Day to protest and express resentment towards the forcible occupation of Kashmir by the Indian occupying forces.

The suffering of the Kashmiri people began on October 27, 1947 with the landing of Indian troops in Jammu and Kashmir, and  has since multiplied particularly after August 5, 2019 when New Delhi revoked Articles 370 and 35-A of the Indian Constitution to suspend the special status of IIOJK.

The government has drawn up a comprehensive program to commemorate the day, highlighting the atrocities and massive human rights violations by Indian troops to suppress the local struggle for independence of Kashmiris. The Kashmiri people want their legitimate right to self-determination and want UN Security Council resolutions had been upheld.

The Ministry of Kashmi Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan has also formulated comprehensive programs to mark Black Day. The government official added that all the provincial governments have planned various activities to commemorate the day.

The spokesperson said that following all the SOPs of Covid-19, public gatherings, rallies, walks and protests would be organized at district and tehsil levels across the country, including AJK and G-B.

A photo exhibition will also be arranged to highlight human rights abuses, extra-judicial killings, disabilities of Kashmiris through pellet guns at the hands of Indian security forces while black banners, panaflex, hoardings and streamers would be displayed at prominent roads and places to mark the day, he stated.
