Pakistan wants stable, inclusive govt in Afghanistan: Fawad Chaudhry

Sept 6, 2021: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Fawad Chaudhry on Sunday said that Pakistan has a clear policy on Afghanistan, adding that Islamabad wants stability and peace in the neighboring country.
Talking to media in Lahore, the Minister said that Pakistan would support a comprehensive government in Afghanistan. As far as the recognition of the Taliban regime is concerned, Pakistan does not want to take a unilateral decision and will go along with the regional countries and other world powers.
He added that General Faiz Hameed was not the first intelligence chief to visit Kabul.
According to media reports, intelligence chiefs from the United States, Turkey and Qatar also visited the Afghan capital, adding that the intelligence agencies have their own way of working. Any situation in Afghanistan will have a profound effect on Pakistan because it has strategic, political, social and economic ties with us, so we cannot ignore Afghanistan.
The Minister pointed out that due to the political vacuum in Afghanistan, intelligence relations are being used to bring the two sides into dialogue to remove reservations and establish good relations between the two countries.
He said that Pakistan had been demanding a political solution to Afghanistan for a long time but the US President and other international community realized the reality by demanding the same solution today.
The Minister said that Pakistan would not abandon ordinary Afghans. “Their lives are as important to us as those expelled from Afghanistan,” he said.
Fawad said leaving ordinary Afghans alone would create instability in the next neighbor, which would not be in the interest of the world. “Pakistan’s view is that the international community should not leave Afghanistan alone and maintain constant contact with the Afghan authorities to bring a government to Afghanistan that represents all its ethnic and other groups,” he said.
“We will not allow India to use Afghan soil for terrorism against Pakistan,” he said.
