Pakistan will make the vaccine for COVID-19: Dr Zafar Mirza

Lahore, 15th May: According to the report of Baaghi TV, Dr. Zafar Mirza, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Health, has said that the manufacturing of effective medicine for the treatment of coronavirus patients will start in Pakistan within few weeks.

Dr. Zafar Mirza said that its use in the United States has reduced the severity of the disease by 30%, and the export will also increase.

It is reported that medicine Remdesivir has been developed in the United States with reference to coronavirus which has got positive results. This medicine can be exported from Pakistan to 127 countries. The company has allowed Pakistani company Gilead Sciences Inc to produce the medicine which is in the form of an injection.

Dr. Zafar Mirza said that the use of Remdesivir has reduced the severity of the disease by 30%, the medicine for the treatment of Corona will be ready in 6 to 8 weeks. Prime Minister has persuaded the company that this medicine can be prepared in Pakistan. The company will start manufacturing the medicine after the approval of the drug regulatory authority. The government appreciates the important initiative of licensing Glade Sciences.

Zafar Mirza further said that Glade has contracts with 5 manufacturers in South Asia, the USFDA had allowed the use of the drug on an experimental basis. On May 8, the Japanese authorities also approved the drug.

Dr. Zafar Mirza said that it is important for patients to use a face mask and the protection of front line workers against the virus is necessary. The para-medic staff in corona wards must wear safety kits. The training of the medical staff through video link is being arranged.
