Ali Amin Gandapur, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has once again announced plans to send a delegation to Afghanistan.

Pakistani media quoted Gandapur as saying that a jirga should be formed with representatives from various ethnic groups.

According to a report by Geo News: “The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has contacted the Afghan government on the issue of sending a jirga to Afghanistan for peace in Pakistan and Afghanistan, but the meeting is being delayed due to the visit of two important government officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan to Saudi Arabia.”

“Pakistan has long had border and territorial issues with Afghanistan. Pakistan’s internal matters are its own concern, but the political disputes should be addressed through dialogue with the interim Afghan government,” said Zalmay Afghanyar, a political analyst.

So far, the Islamic Emirate has not commented on the possible visit of the Pakistani delegation.

Some analysts believe that tensions in relations between the two countries have intensified. According to them, border closures, attacks on Afghan soil, and the arrest and deportation of Afghan refugees have further strained relations.

“Unfortunately, the political tensions between Kabul and Islamabad have deeply impacted Afghan refugees in Pakistan and, more broadly, Afghanistan’s security, economy, and stability, with negative consequences,” said Wais Naseri, a political analyst.

“Since the Islamic Emirate regained power in Afghanistan, we have seen comprehensive security in neighboring countries and an end to wars. However, Pakistan is still reluctant to modify its strategic approach towards Afghanistan and continues to block transit, transportation, export, and import routes between the two countries,” said Ahmad Khan Andar, another political analyst.

Meanwhile, the president of Pakistan, during a meeting with his Chinese counterpart in Beijing yesterday, urged the interim Afghan government to prevent Afghanistan’s territory from being used against other countries.
