General Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan’s chief of army staff, at a ceremony marking Pakistan’s independence day, asked the citizens of Afghanistan not to allow Afghanistan’s soil to be used against Pakistan.
Speaking at the ceremony, Munir claimed that Pakistan was the most hospitable country for Afghans.
“With respect to our Afghan brothers….. we have been the most hospitable nation and wish that they reciprocate to our earnest efforts to the least, and not allow their soil to be used against us,” Munir said.
The Islamic Emirate’s spokesperson, Zabihullah Mujahid, said that he guarantees, on behalf of the nation’s residents, that Afghanistan’s territory won’t be used against Pakistan.
“They should make sure that we never desire controversy and insecurity in our neighboring nations. We assure them on behalf of our nation that Afghanistan’s soil will not be used against Pakistan and we are serious about this,” Mujahid said.
According to political analysts, a discussion between the representatives of the Afghan and Pakistani people is crucial and required in order to eliminate terrorism.
“They pretended to be innocent. They want to demonstrate to the world that terrorism exists in Afghanistan and that we are suffering as a result,” said Abdul Sadiq Hamidzoi, a political analyst.
“Without a doubt the representatives of the Afghan people need a serious negotiation with Pakistan about eradicating terrorism from the region,” said Tariq Farhadi, a political analyst.
Previously, the chief of staff of the Pakistani army claimed that Afghan nationals were involved in terrorist attacks in Pakistan.
