Pakistan’s first Nishan-e-Haider, Captain Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed’s 72nd Martyrdom

According to reports, the 72nd Martyrdom Day of Captain Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed will be celebrated today.

The great sacrifice of the hero of the Kashmir War of 1948 is being paid great tribute by the nation. On the occasion of the day of martyrdom of the Captain of Pakistan Army who got the first Nishan-e-Haider, DG ISPR said that the invincible courage of Captain Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed will always be remembered.

The DG ISPR said that the unwavering loyalty of Captain Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed to his homeland would be a metaphor for bravery.

It may be recalled that Captain Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed was born on November 10, 1910 in Sanghori, a village in Rawalpindi district. Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed received his early education from Faisalabad. In 1929 he joined the army as a soldier. Received commission in Punjab Regiment in 1944. After which he took part in the Second World War on behalf of Britain. In 1946, he was promoted to the rank of permanent captain in recognition of his outstanding military service.

After the formation of Pakistan, Sarwar Shaheed joined the Pakistan Army. In 1948 when he was serving as Company Commander in the 2nd Battalion of the Punjab Regiment. He was assigned to the operation in Kashmir.

Muhammad Sarwar’s troops had repulsed the Indian army towards Ladakh in Gilgit-Baltistan, after which the enemy blocked Captain Sarwar’s path with barbed wire and but he cut the wire off. Captain Sarwar’s chest was injured by shelling while he was cutting barbed wire.

On July 27, 1948, when his battalion attacked a key enemy position in the Uri sector, Sarwar Shaheed martyred. When the Mujahideen saw him being martyred, they attacked the enemy in such a way that they left the front and fled.

On October 27, 1959, he was awarded the highest honor, the Nishan-e-Haider Medal, and the first Nishan-e-Haider Medal.

Captain Sarwar Shaheed, who fought against external enemies for the sake of the motherland, is today a shining example of bravery for the brave grandsons of the Pakistan Army who are fighting terrorists and internal challenges.
