Lahore, 1st March: Ejaz Durrani, the husband of legendary Madam Noor Jahan, has died at the age of 86 after a long illness.
Baaghi TV: According to the reports from immediate family, Ejaz Durrani breathed his last on Monday, as he was ill for a long time.
The funeral prayers of Mr Durrani will be offered with the Zuhr prayers today in Garden Town, Lahore.
Ejaz Durrani had played the iconic role of Ranjha in the film ‘Heer Ranjha’ which took him to the heights of fame.
He was born in 1935 in a village on the outskirts of Jalalpur Jattan. He was introduced as a supporting actor in director Manshi Dal’s 1956 film ‘Hamida’.
He acted as a supporting hero in filmmaker Dawood Chand’s Urdu film ‘Mirza Sahib’, but in 1957 he appeared for the first time as the main hero in director Humayun Mirza’s film ‘Bada Aadmi’.
As well as being a successful actor, Ejaz Durrani was a very successful distributor and a great administrator who knew the best skills in the art of filmmaking.
Films like ‘Dosti’, ‘Heer Ranjha’ and ‘Sholay’ which are skyrocketed at the box office are a testament to his abilities as a filmmaker.
He married the actress and singer Madam Noor Jahan but later got divorced.
