PALPA Loses Another Legal Battle Yet Again!

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has ordered Pakistan Airline Pilots’ Association (PALPA) to allow Haroon Abdullah to contest the forthcoming PALPA elections for the post of President in terms of Constitution/Bye-Laws of the Pilots’ Association.

According to the details, in an order dated January 21, 2022, the Honourable High Court of Sindh, Karachi, has allowed Haroon Abdullah to contest the Presidential Elections of PALPA. Moreover, the SHC also directed the Pilots’ Association to ensure compliance of orders dated 14.12.2021 and 23.12.201 passed in Suit No. 2041/2019.

“However, the contention of the learned counsel for the applicant [Haroon Abdullah] is to the extent that in the subject suit which was filed in the year 2019 and written statement has been filed by the respondents [PALPA], whoo did not raise any objection with regard to maintainability of the Suit,” the SHC order read.

“The non-compliance of Court’s orders by the respondents/alleged contemnors would render the claim of the appellant in the suit as redundant and illusionary, if elections of PALPA held without allowing the appellant to contest the same in terms of its Constitution and Bye-Laws,” the court order further said.

The High Court of Sindh disposed of the appeal ‘in the above terms along with listed applications.’
