PANAH holds awareness walk on World Heart Day

The Pakistan National Heart Association (PANAH) organized an awareness walk in Islamabad on Thursday to get public awareness about the heart diseases which was heavily participated by doctors, teachers, students, political, social, representatives of PANAH and civil society.

According to the details, the awareness rally was organised outside the National Press Club in the federal capital. The participants were holding play cards and banners with the slogans to keep the heart strong.

The special guests at the rally were Dr Palitha Gunarathna Mahipala, representative of World Health Organisation (WHO)in Pakistan and Zamurd Khan, chairman Sweet Homes.

Moreover, they were accompanied by chairperson Tehseen Fawad and some members of Nation Development Organisation (NDO). Anwar Raza, the general secretary of National Press Club was also present in the awareness walk.

The purpose of the walk was to educate people around the world, including Pakistan, that heart is the strongest organ of the human body, without which it is impossible to attain life. therefore, the heart needs to be protected and people should give up such factors/habits which are causing harm to the heart.

Heart disease causes 18.6 million deaths annually making it the world’s number one killer, according to the World Heart Federation.

The main causes of heart disease include excessive consumption of sugar, smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity. Heart is an essential part of the human body, which requires walking, daily exercise and a simple diet to be part of your daily routine and avoid such foods and hobbies that cause fatal diseases, including heart disease.
