Pandora leaks consolidate the PM's stance: Fawad Chaudhary

On Sunday, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry stated that facts laid bare in the “Pandora Papers” were a breakthrough step and would unlock new paths of transparency.

His statement added that it would strengthen PM Imran Khan’s stance about rich people hiding their money, stolen from poor countries, in rich countries.

In a tweet, Fawad Chaudhary said that the Panama Papers revealed offshore assets of the corrupt. Now, another investigation of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) is coming, which will further reveal names, and strengthen Imran Khan’s position.

He further stated that he hoped that with the revelations made through the Pandora Papers, those who moved money from poor to rich countries will be known, and new avenues of transparency will also be opened. With that, corruption can be fought on a greater level, he stated.

It is to be noted that in 2016, the Panama Papers were revealed to the world which contained details of corruption by a long list of the rich and powerful. The Papers naturally set off alarm bells, and now, the Pandora Papers, which are a result of the efforts of 600 reporters from around the world, from 117 countries, including Pakistan, are apparently even more incriminating.
