Parents and relatives mark 7th anniversary of APS attack
Dec 16, 2021: Parents of martyred Army Public School (APS) students and members of civil society recited the Quran in remembrance of the victims on the seventh anniversary of the heinous attack, which killed 147 people, most of them students.
During the walk on the premises of Martyrs APS Public Library, parents of schools, members of civil society and students also held pictures of martyred students. Parents and relatives of the martyred students lit candles on the APS memorial outside the library.
“Seven years after the tragic incident, we are moving from pillar to post seeking justice,” Ajoon Khan Advocate, president of the Martyrs APS Forum, told press. He lamented that the Supreme Court had repeatedly postponed the proceedings of the case due to which the parents of the martyred students were upset. Mr Ajoon, who lost his son, Asfand Khan, a 10th grader, said: “We will continue our efforts till the registration of FIR against the top security personnel responsible for the tragic incident that took place on December 16, 2014. They were in positions of power. ”
He demanded the Supreme Court to order the registration of an FIR against those responsible for negligence in security. He said the judicial commission investigating the attack had made it clear that the incident was due to “security lapses and negligence”. He demanded that if any judicial commission had clearly stated that the death of their children was due to lack of security and negligence, then the Supreme Court should also order to register an FIR against such persons.
The question of how the terrorists entered the sensitive area despite prior notice remains to be answered, Mr. Ajoon lamented.
