Patients from KP set to receive free liver and kidney transplant services
Jan 15, 2022: As per reports by the Express Tribune, patients from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) are set to receive free-of-cost liver and kidney transplantion services after a memorandum of understanding was signed between the provincial government, State Life Insurance and Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Centre (PKLI&RC) on Saturday.
According to an official statement, the service will be available under the provincial government’s Health Justice Card scheme. It said the provincial government would bear the cost of Rs 5 million for liver transplant and Rs 1.4 million per patient for kidney transplant.
KP Chief Minister Mehmood Khan termed the move as a gift to the people of the province and said that soon cancer would be treated under the health card scheme.
He further said that soon OPD services would also be provided to the people under the health card scheme.
The Sehat Sahulat Program is a flagship project of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, launched on the instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan. The program envisages helping people with disastrous catastrophic costs.
