Lahore, 18th June: Immunocompromised patients are now being administered Pfizer vaccine in Punjab.
According to reports, Punjab has started giving COVID-19’s Pfizer vaccine on Friday to people suffering from chronic illnesses.
According to health officials, the American vaccine Pfizer-BioNtech is being administered to AIDS, cancer and organ transplant patients right now.
As per reports, the specialized health department in the federal capital has distributed the Pfizer vaccine and Punjab has started the vaccine drive from today.
Sources have informed that Shaukat Khanum Hospital in Lahore has been granted 7,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine and the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant (PKLI) received 8,000 doses.
Meanwhile, the Allied Hospital in Faisalabad has been provided 2,800 shots, the Holy Family Hospital got 1,500, and the Nishtar Hospital received 3,700 doses.
Sources have also informed that the number of registered organ transplant recipients and cancer patients is over 100,000.
It is to be noted that Pakistan received a total of 100,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine in May, out of which 23,000 have been given to Punjab province.
Earlier this week the government changed its policy on who will get the Pfizer jab in Pakistan.
It has now been decided that visa holders and students traveling abroad will not be inoculated with the Pfizer vaccine and only Hajis and people suffering from chronic diseases will receive this vaccine.
