Lahore, 21st Feb 2020: According to the reports of Baaghi TV, the PCB Anti-Corruption Unit has taken a major decision on the suspension of Umar Akmal, a Pakistani cricketer.
PCB Anti-Corruption Unit issues regular inquiry into the suspension of the middle-order batsman Umar Akmal and has issued a show cause notice to the batsman. Umar Akmal has to respond to the show cause notice within seven days.
The formal investigation is scheduled to begin next week. As a result, Umar Akmal may be banned for two to five years. In this regard ICC has contacted Pakistan Cricket Board. The PCB has shared the information with the ICC and the Anti Corruption Units of both the ICC and the PCB have been in touch on this matter.
It is to be noted that the batsman was immediately suspended by the Pakistan Cricket Board under the anti-corruption code and Umar Akmal will not be able to participate in any cricket activity till the investigation is completed.
According to the sources, Umar Akmal was allegedly offered spot-fixing by some unidentified bookie, which he did not inform the PCB Anti-Corruption Unit on time. As a result he has been suspended from the game.
It may also be remembered that he was recently cleared off from the court for the violation of code of conduct.
