Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief executive Wasim Khan has also announced a donation of Rs 1.5 million from his personal expenses to help financially distressed former cricketers, match officials, scorers and groundsmen.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has come under fire in recent days for firing and retaining employees and high salaries for senior officials. Wasim Khan, the first chief executive, regretted and apologized for the decision to fire the employees and now announced to donate to the fund.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Executive Wasim Khan has said that he has personally decided to provide financial assistance to the troubled players, match officials and ground staff.

“This is a small part of the chairman’s welfare fund that I have already set up to help players, match officials and ground staff”, he said.

“It has been a tradition in the past to increase the salaries of PCB employees annually, but on the contrary, we have decided to further reduce our expenditure for the next 12 months,” the PCB chief executive said.

“We have decided to increase the salaries of employees with a salary of only Rs 100,000 or less, which will be implemented in the new financial year starting July 1st,” he said.

Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ehsan Mani said he appreciated Wasim Khan’s action. He said that it was commendable for Wasim Khan to go ahead and set an example. Chairman PCB said that Wasim Khan has always shown his commitment to Pakistan cricket and this is an example of that.
