PCB to finalise changes to World T20 squad today

Oct 7, 2021: According to reports by sources from private media group Geo News, the management of Pakistan cricket team will take important decisions today on the changes in the national squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

According to sources, important meetings are expected today for Chief Selector Muhammad Waseem to discuss changes in the national squad for the World Cup.

He said that the chief selector would meet interim coach Saqlain Mushtaq today and discuss the changes keeping in view the performance of the players during the ongoing National T20 Cup.

At least one or two changes to the World Cup squad cannot be ruled out, the source added, adding that the administration is also considering increasing the number of players sent to the bio-safe bubble for the T20 World Cup.

According to a schedule piblished earlier this week, selected cricketers selected for the ICC event will enter the special bubble for the world cup squad from Friday. The players selected for the squad will continue to play the National T20 Cup till today, Thursday, October 7.

After entering the bubble, the players will directly leave for the UAE to play in the mega event, on October 15.

The current squad for the T20 world cup includes; Babar Azam (captain), Shadab Khan (vice-captain), Asif Ali, Azam Khan (wicketkeeper), Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Imad Wasim, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan (wicketkeeper), Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Shaheen Shah Afridi  and Sohaib Maqsood.
