The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) heavily depends on the sale of commercial rights as a major source of revenue. However, with the next edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) just three months away and the player draft scheduled for December 15th, there has been a noticeable delay in initiating the sale of broadcasting and production rights, which is causing concern.

Reportedly, the PCB is planning to call for bids on the following commercial rights in the near future:

– PSL Broadcasting rights for two years
– PSL live streaming rights for two years
– Bilateral series rights for two years
– Bilateral series live streaming rights for two years
– Bilateral and PSL Broadcasting rights for the domestic market
– Bilateral and PSL live streaming rights for the international market
– Production services for PSL and bilateral series for two years.

Franchise owners are expressing their worries about this delay, as they feel there has been inadequate consultation on this critical issue. Initial estimates suggest that the sale of these rights has the potential to generate at least 8 billion rupees in revenue for the PCB.

Is it true that PCB’s current/Adhoc Management has appointed-given contracts to more than 56 consultants at tens of millions (PKR) and mostly at the recommendation of a Political party who was instrumental in having the current Chairman appointed . The same Party is exerting pressure on CTG to extend tenure of current Management till the new Government is formed so new bargains can be struck.
