P&D Chairman lays stress on prioritizing projects with highest economic returns for Gujranwala
Lahore: Chairman P&D laid stress on prioritizing projects with highest economic returns and multiplier for Gujranwala’s economy.
A Project Steering Committee (PSC) regarding Regional Economic Growth Strategy (REGS) of Gujranwala was held under the co-chairmanship of Dr. Salman Shah (Economic Advisor to CM) and Mr. Abdullah Khan Sumbal (Chairman P&D Board) at P&D Complex.
The objective of the meeting was to brief Advisor on progress made in Gujranwala development portfolio. Nearly 10% of the proposed portfolio has been booked in ADP and PSDP.
Chairman P&D laid stress on prioritizing projects with highest economic returns and multiplier for Gujranwala’s economy. He sought progress from departments and provided guidance on fast-tracking. Since the projects have high ramification for business sector therefore Advsior proposed dovetailing them with direction of private investments. Commissioner Gujranwala put forth demands from local businesses and highlight the need for some projects that can be winner projects for the region.
“Departments to ensure speedy submission of project timelines and prioritization in light of discussions” says Dr. Salman Shah. Forest and fisheries related interventions to be deepened to include broader range of projects. Deliberations also made in relation to Economic Corridor Development Authority in Gujranwala. “Private sector industry associations will be engaged throughout the process to make REGS as living document that impacts lives of people in Gujranwala.” says Abdullah Khan Sumbal.
