The Provincial Disaster Management Authority Punjab has issued a high-level flood warning due to the rising water flow in River Sutlej at Ferozepur.
According to the PDMA Punjab Spokesperson, River Sutlej at Ferozepur downstream is experiencing a high flood situation and water level in the river as well as adjoining streams and drains are expected to rise further.
The PDMA has directed all concerned Deputy Commissioners to remain high alert. Alerts have also been issued to the Commissioners of Lahore, Sahiwal, Multan, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan, as well as to the Deputy Commissioners of Kasur, Okara, Pakpattan, Vehari, Bahawalnagar, Lodhran, Bahawalpur, Multan and Muzaffargarh.
The DG PDMA Punjab, Irfan Ali Kathia, said in line with the directives of the Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, all necessary arrangements must be completed without delay.
He urged the people to fully cooperate with the district administration and rescue agencies.
He said people can contact PDMA’s helpline at 1129 in case of any emergency.
